3.3.3 memory

The

memory

command tests memory by running a memory exerciser each time the

command is entered. The exercisers are run in the background and nothing is

displayed unless an error occurs.

The number of exercisers, as well as the length of time for testing, depends on the

context of the testing. Generally, running three to ﬁve exercisers for 15 minutes

to 1 hour is sufﬁcient for troubleshooting most memory problems.

To terminate the memory tests, use the

kill

command to terminate an individual

diagnostic or the

kill_diags

command to terminate all diagnostics. Use the

show_status

display to determine the process ID when terminating an individual

diagnostic test.
